Super Group is proud to announce that the group has been ranked in 9th place overall in theTop 100 Most BEE Empowered Companies on the JSE as published in IOL Business Report. What makes this accolade even more impressive is that Super Group achieved this ranking under the new Amended Codes of Good Practice whereas many of our competitors are still being ranked under the old BBEEE codes.
“We are pleased with our BBEEE progress to date and proud of our position as the top performer in the listed Transport sector,” said Peter Mountford, Chief Executive Officer of Super Group. “We believe that BBEEE is a key requirement for the promotion of sustainable economic growth and social development in South Africa. The rationale for implementing our BBBEE Scheme for our Black employees is to allow them to benefit from the growth and performance of the South African operations.”

The Empowerdex Most Empowered Companies survey provides a valuable assessment of empowerment levels at JSE-listed companies, measuring them on a number of factors from ownership to enterprise development.Out of the 373 companies listed on the JSE, the survey ranks the top 100 most empowered(BBBEE) companies. The top 100 Companies fall into two groups which are The Old Codes and The New Amended codes and aligned sector Codes. The old codes pertain to companies who have not yet moved over to the new BBBEE measuring codes and whom will have to do so within the next year or two.
According to Nomzamo Xaba, group executive of Empowerdex, the need for meaningful transformation in equity ownership continues to be a subject of national discourse in the quest for inclusive economic development. “Of note is the issue of ensuring meaningful participation and inclusion of the majority black population in this important sector of the economy,” she says.
